EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY - PT FIREFIGHTER
FIREFIGHTER - PART TIME
$26 an hour
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs firefighting activities including driving fire apparatus, operating pumps and related equipment, laying hose lines, and performing fire suppression activities, Emergency Medical Services, and Rescue operations with rescue equipment and confined space equipment.

Participates in fire training, attends classes in firefighting, emergency medical, hazardous materials, and related subjects.

Maintains fire equipment, apparatus and facilities. Performs minor repairs to departmental equipment.

Performs general maintenance work in the upkeep of fire facilities and equipment. Washes, hangs and dries hose, washes, cleans, polishes, maintains and tests apparatus and equipment.

Performs salvage operations such as throwing salvage covers, sweeping water, and removing debris.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Working knowledge of driver safety
Must possess a State of New Jersey Firefighter I Certification
Must possess certificates of completion for ICS-200 and ICS 700
Must possess Incident Management Level I certification
Must pssess a State of New Jersey Emergency Medical Technician certification
Current CPR for Healthcare Provider Certification
Ability to successfully learn the operation of the listed tools and equipment
Ability to learn to apply standard firefighting, hazardous materials, techniques
Ability to perform strenuous or peak physical effort during emergency training activities for prolonged periods of time under conditions of extreme heights, intense heat, cold or smoke.
Ability to act effectively in emergency and stressful situations
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older at time of appointment.
Must possess, or be able to obtain by time of appointment, a valid New Jersey State driver's license.
No suspension or revocation of driver’s license in any State.
Ability to read and write the English Language
Ability to meet Departmental physical standards.

Required education:
High school or equivalent

Required experience:
Professional firefighting: 2 years

Required licenses or certifications:
Current CPR for Healthcare Provider Certification
Incident Management Level I certification
State of New Jersey Firefighter I Certification
valid New Jersey State driver's license
Certificates of completion for ICS-200 and ICS 700
State of NJ Emergency Medical Technician

Vacancy - Library Board of Trustees

SENIOR PROGRAMS
Senior citizens sixty (60) years of age and older are invited to attend one of the 10 centers located throughout Atlantic County. The centers offer a variety of activities including crafts, line dancing, computer classes, self defense courses and bingo. A lunch time meal is served daily. There is no charge to participate however, a $1.00 donation is requested to enhance the program. All are open Monday to Friday, 9 AM – 1 PM , with one center in Atlantic City is open on the weekends. METAL COLLECTION SCHEDULE
as of January 1, 2017 Northfield Public Works will collect metal during the 1st full week of each month. These items can be placed out on the same day as trash collection. Place at the curb, separate from trash.

This is a change from the 2016 collection schedule of TWO collections per month. Please make a note of it.

ELECTRONIC AND METAL WASTE
As of January 2017, the City of Northfield will no longer be collecting electronic waste on behalf of its residents.

New Jersey Law prohibits computers, cell phones, monitors, laptops, portable computers and televisions from going in the trash. Manufacturers are obligated to implement and finance the collection, transportation and recycling of covered electronic devices and offer such services at no cost to municipalities.
