MESSAGE FROM NJ AMERICAN WATER - SPRING FLUSHING
Each year, New Jersey American Water flushes the pipes in their water distribution system. This is an essential part of their system maintenance program, which helps them to continue to provide high-quality water service. Flushing will begin in Northfield during the week of May 12th and continue until June 22nd.
When crews are in your area, customers may notice a drop in water pressure or discolored water. Discolored water may occur because the sediment in water mains gets stirred up when the fire hydrants are used and when the flow of water in mains changes. This is normal. If this happens, it is not harmful. Simply let your cold water run until it is clear.
They will use their phone/text/email customer notification system to notify customers before flushing begins in the community.
Customers must opt-in to these types of non-emergency alerts by:
• Log into MyWater, their customer portal, at mywater.amwater.com.
• On the Alert Settings tile, click on the Edit button, which will take you to the page where you can update your contact information and preferences.
• Not an account holder? They still want to keep you informed. If you live, rent, work or spend time in a community served by New Jersey American Water, but are not a direct customer, you can still sign up for CodeRED to receive water-related alerts. Text WATER to 99411 or visit AWCodeRed.com to sign up for alerts.

WHERE DO YOUR TAX DOLLARS GO?
In NJ, your property tax bill pays for local government, school and county expenses. The City of Northfield collects your property taxes, and distributes most of this money to the other entities. So where exactly does your money go? Please see the chart attached. Roughly 28 cents of every dollar is retained by the City of Northfield for the purpose of providing all municipal services, including public safety, and the other 72 cents is sent to the local and regional schools, and to Atlantic County government, to fund the services they provide.
