Holiday Lighting Contest
The nominations are in for the Mayor's Annual Holiday Lighting Contest. Below please find the list of entrants and a map with their locations. Judges will be out on Friday, December 14th and Saturday December 15th between 5pm and 8pm. Scores will be tabulated on December 17th and winners will be announced at our Council Meeting on December 18th.

Vacancy - Northfield Planning Board
The Northfield Planning Board will have a vacancy for an Alternate Member beginning January 1st. Interested parties may send a letter of interest to Mayor Chau at City Hall or email him at Deadline is December 17th.

It's that time of year when you can have Santa visit your home on his big red sleigh (fire truck), courtesy of the Northfield Volunteer Fire Company! There is no fee for this service, however, donations are encouraged and appreciated! Refer to the event flyer for details on how to reserve your visit - reservations accepted as of November 21st! Space is limited!

Mayor Chau's Annual Holiday Light Contest
Enter your home or your neighbor's home in Mayor Chau's Annual Holiday Light Contest. Registration is due by 4pm on December 6th. Winners will be announced December 17th and will be recognized by City Council at 7pm on December 18th. Please see the flyer for the rules and more information.

Vacancy - Library Board of Trustees
There is presently a vacancy on the Library Board of Trustees for the Otto Bruyns Public Library of Northfield. Trustees must attend one meeting a month.If interested please contact Mayor Chau at 641-2832 x 132 or email

As of January 1, 2018, the City of Northfield Public Works Department will collect metal on the 1st Wednesday of the month, City-wide, regardless of your regular trash collection schedule.

Please place items curbside. If metal collection falls on your trash collection day, please ensure that the items are separated at the curb.

NOTE: 'scrapping', collection of these materials by anyone other than Northfield Public Works, is illegal. If you see a scrapper, please call non-emergency police dispatch at 641-3122.
