Operation Take Back
On Saturday, April 29th from 10am - 2pm, the Northfield Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the public another opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. Bring your pills for disposal to the Northfield Police Department.(The DEA cannot accept liquids or needles or sharps, only pills or patches.) The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.

Spring Street Sweeping Postponed
Due to an unforeseen mechanical issue with the street sweeper, our Spring Street Sweeping will be postponed. A new date has not been set and will be posted as soon as possible.

Vacancy - Library Board of Trustees
There is presently a vacancy on the Library Board of Trustees for the Ottob Bruyns Public Library of Northfield. Trustees must attend one meeting a month.If interested please contact Mayor Chau at 641-2832 x 132 or email

The City of Northfield will be conducting street-sweeping services from April 24th through May 5th. Please be advised that the operation will commence at 7:00am, and that citizens will be required to remove their vehicles from the side of the street on which sweeping services are being performed. This is the number one reason that areas are missed and or skipped, and your assistance is appreciated.

National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day
The National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day will be held at the Northfield Police Department on Saturday, April 29, 2017 from 10am to 2pm. This is a safe, convenient way to dispose of prescription medications.

Senior citizens sixty (60) years of age and older are invited to attend one of the 10 centers located throughout Atlantic County. The centers offer a variety of activities including crafts, line dancing, computer classes, self defense courses and bingo. A lunch time meal is served daily. There is no charge to participate however, a $1.00 donation is requested to enhance the program. All are open Monday to Friday, 9 AM 1 PM , with one center in Atlantic City is open on the weekends. as of January 1, 2017 Northfield Public Works will collect metal during the 1st full week of each month. These items can be placed out on the same day as trash collection. Place at the curb, separate from trash.

This is a change from the 2016 collection schedule of TWO collections per month. Please make a note of it.

As of January 2017, the City of Northfield will no longer be collecting electronic waste on behalf of its residents.

New Jersey Law prohibits computers, cell phones, monitors, laptops, portable computers and televisions from going in the trash. Manufacturers are obligated to implement and finance the collection, transportation and recycling of covered electronic devices and offer such services at no cost to municipalities.
